The purpose of the site is to provide a selection of my photographs, mainly UK railway
photographs, as a series of galleries.
The title relates to the fun my colleagues and I had in photographing preserved steam
trains on the Settle to Carlisle railway line in the 1980s. Given the variable weather
on the line, achieving a picture in “full sun” was often down to luck and we returned
home happy if we had captured at least one shot in “ full sun”.
Whilst sun is the preferred lighting, it is not essential and less than ideal lighting
conditions, such as fog or rain, present a challenge to the photographer.
Although railways are my main interest there is a non-railway gallery and further
galleries will be added in due course. I hope you enjoy browsing them.
