The gallery is a selection of images that I have taken over a period of more than 50 years. Many are scanned from B&W or colour negatives/slides, both 35mm and 120 roll film sizes. The scanning was done using an Epson Perfection 4870 Photo flatbed scanner. The remaining ones are from my digital camera.

Images have been processed  in Adobe Lightroom 4 and Serif PhotoPlus X3 software. Adjustments were mainly cropping, straightening, brightness, contrast, saturation and sharpening. Dust spots have been cloned out but no major items have been added or removed. The images are faithful to the scene that the camera recorded.

Many of the Steam - Pre 1969 pictures were taken on motive power depots, often referred to as mpds or engine sheds.  Those who have experienced the atmosphere in a working steam shed will doubtless share the memories of the sights, smells and sounds, none of which can be replicated nowadays. There was something about the 1960s that will stay in my mind forever.

The Railway  Miscellany Gallery comprises a selection of styles and generally gets away from the “front three-quarter, sun over shoulder” approach which can become very mundane.

The Borders Railway Gallery will follow the progress of work of reinstating this line on the Waverley Route trackbed.
